More Mies! The Tugendhat Villa

As you all know, I am a fan of the work of the architect Ludwig Mies Van der Rohe. I received an invite from builder Rivo Miles to come visit the Tugendhat Villa. Built in 1930 in Brno (in today's Czech Republic), the Villa is considered a masterpiece of modernist/ international architecture and was designated a World Historic Site by UNESCO in 2001. The clean lines, the fantastic use of space, it's all there... You can see the iconic Mies furniture that was in the house such as his Barcelona chair and the cantilevered Brno and Tugendhat chairs. I think Rivo did a lovely job of recreating the house, including its walls of tropical wood and onyx stone (which in RL was translucent and changes color with sun and time of day).

After I left the Villa, I thought I'd explore the Czechoslovakia sim some more and walked over to Bohemia, where I peeked in all of the shops and sat for a moment in the main square...Before getting comfortable in the pretty park nearby for a while...
I know a sim crossing warning sign when I see one!

"Rock, Crash & Roll!": Grooving at Gardenstock

The Rezzable NPIRL Garden of Earthly Delights kicked off its Gardenstock today, with some of the best live musicians inworld coming to play at the stage next to the Tower. I'm the tiny bunny in black on the right dancing to Kaklick Martin, who was the first live musician inworld I had ever heard...I was about to leave, but Malburns Writer IMd me suggesting that I stay and hear the next band V.L.B. (Virtual Live Band) and I am so glad that I did as they were GREAT! They are comprised of 4 musicians from France, Germany, England and the U.S. who are playing live! I thought it was a fantastic concept and enjoyed seeing the video going of live crowdshots and them playing in RL too. If you ever get a chance to see them, do eet! Their lead singer Foxy was unable to make it, so LittleNoisyFox Delight got up there and "filled in" for her! He rawked! Tinies represent!! "Rock, Crash & Roll!"

Steelhead and Chickens

Yes...that's me in duckie slippers and PJs with lingerie pics all over them dancing at the pajama party-themed Friday night dance in Steelhead.

Here's some good news! At Tuesday's meeting Mrs. Peterman (Nabila Nadir) told us about a friend's little girl whose video about a book on raising chickens was in a contest on Scholastic. Steelheaders love chickens and "chickening"--ask Doc Mason about when he goes afk--and her video was totally cute. So it was fitting that Steelhead, Caledon and others rallied together to vote for her and our votes helped her pulled ahead and win. Chillin' in the Wastelands

Finally got a chance to see Dia's new place in the Wastelands sim...We headed over to the brand spankin' new Malady Bog sim there, where they were hard at work getting everything ready...
We came across the Big Ass Bird, who didn't seem to make the sim crossing. It's lucky the weapons don't work on it yet or Dia would've gotten to clobberin'. At first I said "That's good eating!" then thought that a bird that big either a) might try to eat you or b) wouldn't be good to eat because of how it got that big...
We hopped on her scooter and were off...
Before ending up at the fight night cemetery where she showed me her grave and that of Gene Replacement, creator of the original megaprims. It's fitting for him, huh?

Baube is Back

"Hey heifer...lmfao" the IM said.

I had to look twice at the name. And then twice again. Baube Laval. Holy crap. My RL little sister was back inworld. Oh...my...

I found her sitting on top of a soda dispenser in her friend's apartment with a large bottle of Jack Daniels, looking noobtastic from head to toe. Her friend arrived from her hostess job and laughed as my sister jumped around like a madwoman on her bed. Baube, despite being a year old, hasn't been on in so long that it was like relearning everything...including the mystery of beds with MLP poseballs. "Ugh! Help me!" she said, and like a dutiful big sis we went out into the world. After she chose new shoes, new skin, new hair, new eyes, an AO and a borrowed miniskirt outfit from me, the makeover was complete. She really does look like she is related to me--as she does more or less in RL. And it's funny. In here she's shorter than I am too. "Yay! Twinz!" she said.

If she decides to stay inworld again, I'm sure she'll tweak her look even more. It'll be interesting. In the meantime...pray for me. I'll need it.
