Baube Craziness and Dragons!

Tonight was a pretty crazy day for me in SL...lots to do and see.

I had a chance to hang out with my l'il sis Baube, which has been a treat lately as her computer's on the blink. As you can see, she was surrounded by blue fire today. I dodged toilet paper rolls as she and her friend Brene tossed them at one another. He then pulled out a HUGE gun and "Aaaaiggh!" she was off screaming as he chased her with it.Another of her friends, Dana, appeared--as a bone dragon--dripping blood and everything. I always have fun with Baube. You never quite know what will happen next.
Speaking of dragons, Dominic came by Vista del Mar to show me his new sculptie dragon AV. I think he enjoys being able to stretch out there. He looked so cool that I wanted to reach out and touch him or something.

Eladrienne Laval, SLNN Reporter...

I don't know if I've ever really talked about what it is like to be a reporter in SL before. I am still the finance reporter for slnn.com. This means that I talk to my editor Marvel and come up with ideas or she'll contact me if she has something. I request an interview, preferring "face to face" interviews, as I can also take the photo to accompany the article at the same time. I always ask at the beginning if it is OK for them to be on the record--esp. if I'm interviewing them via IM--as I will copy the conversation into a notecard that I use to edit the story later. It is technically against TOS to copy and release private IM transcripts, so I always ask that to have their permission.

What do I wear? My beat, like in RL, is conservative. Every time I have interviewed the gentlemen in these articles, they have been in their business best so I am too. I have a gray/cream business suit that I wear, as well as a pinstriped, gray-blue conservative dress and pumps. Sure, it might seem silly, but they are taking it seriously by their dress. I should look the part too. I'll admit that I showed up to my most recent interview in formal Victorian dress. He had little time and sent the tp. I had to go immediately and had no time at all to change, and I was on deadline. Luckily, I've interviewed him before, so he found it funny. I try to be fair in my stories, just to tell it like it is. The guys could probably also tell you that I'm rather no-nonsense with them too, and direct in my questioning. No tiptoeing as I'm not scared to go for the jugular.

I really enjoy my job here in SL and find it exciting. If you'd like to read my articles up to now, here are the links:

A Visit to Steelhead

I have heard a lot about Steelhead, but had never seen it myself. I thought I'd go for a visit and who knows, maybe find something to decorate my shop. I thought Steelhead was gorgeous and well-planned out with its trees and American Pacific Northwest town feel. It was quiet while I was there, so I wandered the streets alone, looking at the different shops along the water. When I came to the railroad station, I had to take out my parasol as it was starting to rain. I stood there for a moment, watching the light shower and the raindrops hit the ground. Very pretty. I am looking forward to visiting there again!

Fighting and Axes and Swords, Oh My!

As I said, I lost the bid, but Sir Telemachus (in the black) invited me to watch him spar at the arena in Scagnar, a mild Gor sim. He asked me to wear a dress that covers my arms (easy enough as I was still dressed in Victorian garb). Gorean culture has its own rules, and while I can not say that I agree with them (for instance, women in Gor culture)--like cultures anywhere else, I will still respect them. I was treated rather politely and well actually.

I didn't know what to expect, but I can tell you, the matches were fantastic! Watching Sir Tele and his brothers fight was actually very exciting! It seems that leisurely Caledon living had made Tele a little out of practice (hanging out at the Falling Anvil will do that it seems), so he ate sand for the first few matches. But then he got his bearings and boy, were the matches great! Axe vs. sword, then sword vs. sword and the last one was well-fought. He won the last two and I'll admit, I had a great time. He hopes to bring sparring and fighting instruction to Caledon. I think it's a great idea. I'd do it!

Caledon Wanderings: South Pacific Dance/Beefcake Auction

Greetings! I attended the Relay for Life South Pacific-themed Dance & Beefcake Auction last night. I donned my retro bikini (after one I saw in a photo from the "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair" scene). Ten of some of the most interesting gentlemen in Caledon had put themselves on the block, much to the delight of ladies such as myself, who bid on them for a fun date. I may have lost the bid at the last moment for Sir Telemachus (after being highest for an hour!), but I do believe I have now made a new friend in him. His offer of a weapons lesson during the date was what caught my attention! Forget romance and dancing, this time the prospect of gripping cold hard metal and learning how to wield it caught my breath. Okay, and the fact that he's handsome too didn't hurt either, LOL!

I would like to thank the Baron Bardhaven for the lovely picture of me he gave to me recently!

Caledon Wanderings: The Caledon Werebeast

Greetings! I have been enjoying my life as a new Caledon resident. There is always something interesting going on there. One of the major things that have folks all abuzz is the Caledon Werebeast that has been prowling the land. I heard he was on the move, so I hopped on my horse, and through sheer luck--a pursuit began!

Hunting the Caledon Werebeast!

Brene Performing

Even though I was all dressed up in Victorian finery, I went to go hear one of Baube's friends, Brene Durant, perform. I have had fun hanging out with him and Domino to my right. You know how much I enjoy live music! Go Brene!

Fancy Ferret Me

Offie invited me to a tinies party. How could I possibly say no? Unfortunately, the lag was terrible for me and I kept crashing, so I had to leave early. :-(

Caledon Wanderings: Mayfair Musings

Greetings! I am now a true resident of Caledon. I do believe I gave the Guvnah a time trying to make a decision between a huge lot in the new Eyre sim, or a smaller one in Mayfair. The new Eyre sim is quite lovely and feels a bit like Tanglewood or Kittiwickshire. I saw one of Mr. Webb's rabbits and the Guvnah said there was a "bit of a rabbit problem", lol. I felt the smaller lot would suit me better as I already have a very large personal estate at Vista del Mar.

After I purchased my new Mayfair lot (at the intersection of Green, Lemon, and Assam) I stood in the center of it almost a little bewildered and a whole lot excited and thought "Oh my, I am a Caledon resident. Oh dear, I am Caledon resident. Oh no...what now?!" I watched the tram pass in front of the property and thought that first, I'd breathe. I'm in Caledon! That means adventures await!

See Ya Next Week!

I'm away from SL for a week, so enjoy this pretty darn good photo (if I do say so myself) of me for a while!

(In my mind, on hold muzak is playing...)

Tiny Wolf Me & Destroy Television Final Night

Yes, it looks like my regular black & gray wolf form shrank into this tiny form that made Thom and Kitty unable to stop laughing. Dominic did what I guess was the equivalent of raising an eyebrow (does he have eyebrows?) before turning into a tiny tophatted version of himself. After I answered the door later, Kitty said, "I thought you were just hiding behind the sofa...now I know!" Even I couldn't stop laughing, so I decided to share my joy with the rest of the world.

It was the last night of the Destroy Television project last night. I'm in the upper corner in the bottom photo. When Destroy zoomed in on me, I did a flip. You can see the folks in NYC on the screen watching us watching them watch us and so forth and so on. Destroy said that it will be turned into a DVD later. That's pretty exciting.

Caledon Wanderings: Gallery HyBosch Otsuzum

Greetings! Just who is that dashing gentleman with the salt and pepper hair and charming smile? Why, my dear friend Mr. Otsuzum, of course! He is the proprietor of Gallery HyBosch Otsuzum, which officially opened earlier this week and is located just off of the telehub in Caledon Kittiwick. His gallery features work from the enigmatic, mysterious, and somewhat antisocial photographer Wayfarer Rhodes--whose appearances in the gallery are rare and often fraught with high drama.

However, Mr. Rhodes' talent can not be denied and his beautiful photographs speak for themselves! Such is the way of an artiste!

I would also like to add that Mr. Otsuzum is wearing my E.Laval "Hy" waistcoat and shirt with loose tie!

Caledon Wanderings: Cairntagh and Radio Riel

Greetings! My sister Baube and I were comparing ballgowns before I went off to Caledon Cairntagh as Her Grace, Gabrielle Riel, the Duchess of Cairntagh, was throwing a launch party for Radio Riel, Caledon's first radio station!

Even the Guvnah and Vicereine Kamilah made an appearance. It was a lovely time and a great turnout. I do not know why my photos do not show it as being full because it most certainly was! When I arrived, Sir Red Caliber was DJ'ing before Sir Edward Pearse took his turn as DJ. In honor of Col. Hotspur O'Toole's lost original Polymath manse, he played "Burnin' Down the House" via an anonymous request as one of the last songs in his set. Kitty and I danced a jig and at some point I was dancing with a rather large chocolate chip cookie in my mouth. I then had a great time waltzing with Mr. Otsuzum. The Guvnah came and did a test as to how many AVs could fit in the sim. It held up!

Radio Riel will play from 4-8 SLT and you can also listen to it at http://rs3.radiostreamer.com:8100. You can find out more about it at, as well as a schedule, on the Duchess of Carntaigh's blog!
