Cruising on the Winterfell Ferry

I haven't spent much time in the sim of Winterfell in many years now, so when my old Caledonian friend Tele offered to take a ride with me on Winterfell's ferry, I gladly accepted!

There are points throughout the sims that you can rez a ferry and the whole trip takes about a half hour...
Winterfell has a dreamy medieval fantasy look to it and really is beautiful. That is quite a portal we are about to go through...

Raglan Shire ArtWalk Pt II: The Sculptures

I enjoyed the wonderful sculptures scattered throughout Heron Shire for the ArtWalk's 3D area. Many are for sale. The great thing about so many SL art installations and sculptures are their interactivity or the way they are constructed. Balls of shimmering light. So much can be done inworld art-wise that can't yet in the real one. Noke Yuitzo for Alegria Studios had some large installations such as "Minerva"...
 "Love is A Battlefield"...
...and "The Sea of Cubic Dreams"
This one was called "Saudade" by Giovanna Cerise

Raglan Shire ArtWalk!

The Raglan Shire ArtWalk is underway for the whole month of May. Covering multiple sims, you will find fantastic artwork--both 2D and 3D--throughout! karmagirl avro (SQUABBIT!) did a great job as the main coordinator and there are lots of events going on for the whole month. You can take a ride on the Hedgiepillar, which you can hop on and take an almost half-hour ride throughout the ArtWalk...

You can find some of my pieces there too! Here I am cruising by my work on a Hedgiepillar with Dizzy...

Atlas Obscura Positive Article About Second Life

The folks over at Atlas Obscura wrote a really great piece on Second Life called "Forgotten Wonders of the Digital World: Second Life."

Their reporter was teamed with a resident who took him on a tour of some of the most creative and wondrous sims in SL, including AM Radio's "The Far Away" (above). I remember when he first created it and it was so sensational because it was an example of how SL was more than the negative hype attributed to it.

I know SL as a place filled with creatives (me included) whose visions they share with the rest of us. I think about the "old" SL back in the day with the clubs and gambling and escorts and such, but that was just a piece of it. Just like in RL, there are other aspects. Even back then (and I'm talking 2007-8) there were folks building and creating artistic things. I know building was the very first thing I did in SL once I escaped the welcome area. I went straight to a sandbox and started playing with prims.

I really do thank them for writing such a positive piece about our world.

Little Yoshiwara

I had a lot of fun exploring the sim of Little Yoshiwara, one of SL's historical sims. Set in the Edo period during the Tokugawa shogunate, it is filled with little shops and related buildings such as this restaurant, whose sign made me laugh...
I also found their okiya (Geisha school). Do you think they accept tiny squrrels?

Drow Realm of Luth

I am always on the lookout for places to be a dark elf/drow in SL and went exploring. I came across the Drow Realm of Luth...
I saw a door and knocked on it. A drow named R0anoke greeted me and one of her house members opened it from within. She gave me a tour of their Underdark, one of the nicest I've ever been to in SL actually, with rooms, training areas, tunnels, and caverns...

I am not sure of how active they are or the nature of their RP, but if you are a drow inworld, go check it out!

Lupus Awareness Fair

My friend Cleopatra Kellman is the head soror of the inworld sorority Sigma Upsilon Nu. They are holding their 5th Annual Lupus Awareness Fair all of this month with lots of events such as tonight's Carnival-themed party. In RL my husband and his mother have lupus so this is a cause that is near and dear to me...

That is Cleopatra on the right. I loved their beautiful costumes. Look up "Lupus" in SL Events and you can find more info...
