Last Dance in Steelhead

A mainstay for pretty much as long as I've been inworld, this Friday night dance was the last to be held in Steelhead. Fuzz had asked us to help decorate the town hall with photos and I managed to find the ads for every Steelhead sim...

I also put up my faves from 2007-2009 such as my postcards, the time the bay turned to lava, the Great Tensainami of 2009, the Wrangler Cup horse races, the time I got arrested for tiny disorderly conduct, the infamous wood chipper, and my very first visit to Steelhead...
I think Tensai put up this group photo from about 2009? I'm towards the right in all black next to Lunar...
It isn't a Steelhead dance without daleks and trout. You can see me and Phin dancing away in the center...
Goodbye Steelhead...Goodbye Steamlands...thanks for the dance.

Last Steelhead Town Meeting

Every Tuesday for over 7 years, I have tried to come inworld to be a part of one of the zaniest civic meetings ever: the Steelhead town meeting. Last night's would be the last. Fuzz presided over one of the best turnouts I've seen in quite a while. I think folks felt it was important to be a part of it...

Afterwards, we got ourselves situated to take a group photo. It was like herding cats. Here I am sitting on the letters with Thad, Lumi, and Otenth...
Up above us were folks like Genie, Fuzz, Tensai, and Phin...
Here is the full shot of everyone...
Tonight was bittersweet for me. Our community will now be dispersed. Some people I might not see regularly again. No more Hooos. No more floppy dongs (One!). I don't know how I feel. Free in a way? Or...unmoored? Not sure. But thank you Steelhead community, for 8 years of being my virtual home. Hoooo!!

Farewell Steelhead

At tonight's Steelhead town meeting, Lunar announced that due to RL circumstances he will be closing all of Steelhead's sims by the end of this month...
I had seen this coming. Knew it. But it still didn't make hearing it any easier. I walked back to Harborside as I have done after meetings for years...
I have spoken so many times of the ephemerality of SL. This was my virtual home. This was where I came back to when I returned. So many years. So many memories. I took down everything and afterwards, just sat on a box at Laval Point with a pic of my original home on it. I just wanted to sit there for a while...
I know it was a very hard decision for Lunar to close down and by default, close a community. I stood and watched one of my most favorite things in Steelhead: the sun rising from off of the bridge.
Farewell Steelhead.

Steelhead Art City: 2D Pieces

In addition to sculptures, we also had 2D pieces on display in the train station, a brownstone, and a warehouse. Here are my abstract textile pieces and portrait sketches...
Lunar's drawings...
Otenth's photos...
Myrtil Igaly's paintings...
Willow Leafstorm's photos...
...and Steelhead Resident kitteh's kitty art...
I want to thank all of the artists who participated and helped to create something special in the Town of Steelhead!!!!

Steelhead Art City: The Sculptures

I was very busy organizing something super-special for Steelhead: Steelhead Art City! About 20 artists contributed pieces that were on display in various locations in Steelhead from June 12-30.
Here are some highlights from the sculptors...
TC Despres' kinetic pieces. He is one of my oldest friends in SL...
Another Caledonian friend--Autopilotpatty Poppy--contributed kinetic art. I loved the poppies!
Searra Weatherwax
Gloriana Maertens's beautiful light-filled sculptures...

Jimmy Branagh's area was filled with art and sculptures related to his adventures!

Steelhead Bohemians!

As part of Steelhead Art City, we threw an Artists Meet & Greet, where we got together and ended up talking about art techniques, works in progress and creative things. Willow popped through for a moment and after she left (from l. to r.) Jimmy Branagh, Phin, Stew Macpherson, Gloriana Maertens and I came up with the idea to create a group--the Steelhead Bohemians!

The Steelhead Bohemians are a group of creatives who will meet biweekly at 7 on Mondays in the Steelhead Library to informally talk about art, poetry, writing, and whatever pops into our heads. Hopefully in the future we will hold exhibits and presentations in Steelhead. The group is open for anyone to join and feel free to stop through!

The Robots Perform

The "Robots" came through to the Steelhead Town Meeting tonight...
And gave a great concert afterwards...
Their sets are always like a performance art unto itself...
 Who doesn't like floating brains?

Retro 2007 Elle

Steelhead had a retro avatar theme tonight at its dance. I was surprised that I still had my entire 1st day in SL look from February 2007 look still saved!

Wow...

O Steelhead!

I've been working on a project for Steelhead and flew around the sims taking some pics. These are a few of my faves...

Happy Wootmas!

OK, so we tinies love to carol and when the call goes out, we grab our carol books and go! Today we brought some Wootmas cheer to the sim of Fallen Gods (one of my fave places for fantasy skins) and had a great time performing for the biggies there! And of course we riverdanced afterwards!
I later got multiple encores when I sang from the Raglan carol book at the Steelhead Holiday event at the library. It was a lot of fun and I'm so glad everyone enjoyed it!

A Bunneh About Town

Since I am pretty much back, I have resumed my duties as a Steelhead Ambassador and that means I am the Councilor for Harborside. I get to welcome folks and pretty much make sure things are OK. I thought I'd take a walk through the town. Takes a while on tiny bunneh feet, but I did find these carrots (YUM!) at the Steaming Rabbit Cafe in Harborside...
Called a truce and fed the turkeys in Boomtown...
And climbed up and took in the view of the whole town from the top of St. Helen's...
I love Steelhead.

RFL Campsites and Sims 2014

I mostly cheered folks on this year rather than doing lots of laps myself. If you came by Steelhead, you got "Hooo"'d. Here is Lunar's fantastic build for Steelhead's campsite...
I love my Raglan Shire community of tinies...
This Troy Vogel-designed sim kinda reminded me of Superman's Fortress of Solitude...
 MUSHROOMS! GIANT...GLOWING...MUSHROOMS!
Underwater sims were a new thing this year and I LOVED them!
A derpasaurus! Wait...it has a gold tooth. Too funny!
 Alia Baroque's very pretty sim...
And Beq Janus' Escher-inspired "Metamorphosis" site...
It was nice to see so many people participating despite the lag from beyond!

Wanderer

In SL, we all take on different personas as we feel they fit us. For the longest, mine has been a steampunk/NeoVictorian explorer. While I am still very much a steampunk in my heart, my experience now feels very different. I feel like the wanderer I was when I first came inworld.

This seems to really fit me now more than anything else. I parked my wagon behind the post office. I am enjoying the gorgeous water and bridge views, but it's like having an itch, this wanderlust...time to explore.
