Wastelands Visit and Rodents of Unusual Size

I'm not wasting another breath on the Sin Continent issue for now until it actually happens. That's when the interesting issues regarding it will arise. For now? I headed over to the Wastelands to see Dia's latest digs. See, the Wastes has a parcel swap program, enabling residents to move around to equal-sized plots if they want a change. It makes sense to me as the community is one whose very theme revolves around a post-apoc, semi-nomadic, survival lifestyle. She swapped her Bog barbershop to stake out a new spot at the Fissure...I loved her beanbag so much that we decided to venture cross-sim and get one for me too...
Her scooter had undergone a few modifications since the last time I rode it and we made our way across the rugged landscape...I later wandered down the way from her place and besides the heads/skulls on a stick, random big creature bones and unidentified goo, I found these, um...R.O.U.S. Let's just say I gave that cage a wide berth...

Elle's Wild Ride...in a Cop Speeder

I seem to find myself in the futuristic sim of Suffugium a lot. My friend Case (of my infamous banana pron incident) IM'd me, asking if I'd like to go for a spin around Suffugium in his cop speeder. He must've known I needed a break from my design work so I popped right over...I promised him I'd hold off from making oinking noises and asked him if that was a baton in his hand or was he just happy to see me. Yeah, I know, but I couldn't resist. I got as comfortable as I could, gave the probe the finger ("Sub-Citizen THAT!") and we were off!
At one point I eyed the door to get out. He gave me a look like, "You know this is a cop car right?"
Yup...upside-down. *urk* In the end, I told him I think it was just an excuse to try to use his cuffs...

Yoa Ogee Avatars and Roaming Extropia Core

I loved creator Yoa Ogee's installation at the NPIRL Garden and had a great time stocking up on the fun, inventive avatars at Yoa's shop such as this tiny steampunky hovering hamster...I wore one of Yoa's avatars, and feeling very "Sputnik"-like, I thought Extropia would be the best place to explore in it! The architecture and feel's a bright shiny positivity, so different from the dystopic, post-apoc feel of a lot of future sims...
I paused at the Gort statue ("The Day the Earth Stood Still")...peace and robots...
And talked to Extropia's co-founder Vidal Tripsa about Extropia's vision and I enjoyed her hover device...
I realized it was my first time meeting her and switched over to my steampunk cyborg kitty look. She switched looks too and was wearing a very interesting training corset that reacts in terms of how long it's worn. I had a really nice time in Extropia. Visit if you get the chance...even if it's in "Sputnik" form...

Elle's Guide to SL Sims...of the Fuuuuture!

I recently had a discussion about the futuristic sims of SL and here are some of my faves...

Suffugium
This cyberpunk sim is laid-back and filled with interesting, talented regulars. A fantastic build unto itself, explore its buildings, get lost in the sewers or chill at the basketball court and listen to music. Look out for those probes!Extropia Core
Most futuristic sims I came across were dystopic or post-apoc in feel. Extropia was like a retro breath of fresh air in that space age optimism kind of way. Home to Sophrosyne's Salon--where the audience is as interesting as the topics discussed there on Saturdays--Extropia is a bright shiny Tomorrowland vision of the future and well worth a visit...
The Wastelands
This collection of post-Apocalyptic sims is renowned for not only the ingenuity of its citizens and builds, but their true individualism and talent. Not to mention, where else can scavenging turn into survival of the fittest?
Future City
Like a Blade Runner vision, Future City's multilayered, sky-grazing, incredible builds will have you coming back to see it again and again...Please open officially soon! PLEASE.
Insilico
The future is now and evolving at this new high-in-the-sky cyberpunk build. Keep an eye on it as its community grows...
Midian City
Gritty dark urban RP and one of the best builds on the grid to me...
City of Lost Angel's
One of the now biggest (with new sims recently added), oldest and "baddest" of the dark urban future RP sims where demons, angels, lycans, vampires, humans and everyone else roam and use the CCS combat system. When the RP's good, the RP is good there. And if you're squeamish or think you should have lots of limits or if you don't think something bad could happen to you here, why the hell are you there?
Toxian City
Like CoLA, a dark urban future sim, but personally I found the RP a bit easier to get into as a newcomer. Wear an observer tag or go ahead and put on the DCS combat system and jump right in. Maybe you'll even get to join the rest of the citizens in trying to take down one of Toxia's infamous toxic waste monsters...
Space Colony Necronom VI

This futuristic sim is set on a space station filled with slaves, cyborgs, crew members, aliens, traders and pirates. Very much a mature sim and RP experience, but it also has a very interesting HUD called NeMit, which allows you to accomplish missions without necessarily being a part of the overall RP.

Inventory Control & How I Ended Up in the Future

My day started out normal enough...trying to rein in my inventory at the lake house at Vista del Mar...
But I got distracted and threw on a cybersuit and decided to visit Eshi's Flower Tower #2...
I love these cybernetic eyes...
I ended up in the new futuristic Insilico sim, where I found some interesting items while shopping there...I love interesting builds and as it is over 3000m up, as a builder I found even the foundations to be fascinating...
I have heard that an RP is beginning to develop there. As with all new sims, it will be interesting to see how it evolves...

Getting a Haircut--Wastelands Style

I promised Dia I'd let her give me a trim at her barber shop in the Wastelands' Malady Bog. After all, I've got a lot of hair and in the Wastelands, I dunno...shorter just seems to be more manageable and make more sense there. I can't worry about my hair when I'm just trying to survive, you know? She told me to rinse my hair in the water in the bucket in the corner. "The color's fine," she told me. "It'll be good for your hair." Umm, OK. I shrugged and dipped my head into it. Good thing my metal ears are treated. The chair wobbled a bit on its cinder blocks as I sat down and let her go to work...For a moment there I was given a bowl cut, which wasn't quite what I had in mind...
I was like, "Go even shorter! Go for it!" and she got to hacking at it with her rusted shears even more. "Take a look," she said when she was done. I peered at myself in the cracked mirror and smiled. "Perfect!" I said. Now when you see me wandering or hanging out in the Wastelands, you'll know who to credit for the trim!

Chillin' in the Wastelands

Finally got a chance to see Dia's new place in the Wastelands sim...We headed over to the brand spankin' new Malady Bog sim there, where they were hard at work getting everything ready...
We came across the Big Ass Bird, who didn't seem to make the sim crossing. It's lucky the weapons don't work on it yet or Dia would've gotten to clobberin'. At first I said "That's good eating!" then thought that a bird that big either a) might try to eat you or b) wouldn't be good to eat because of how it got that big...
We hopped on her scooter and were off...
Before ending up at the fight night cemetery where she showed me her grave and that of Gene Replacement, creator of the original megaprims. It's fitting for him, huh?

The Future is Now

Hotspur had recently mentioned Future City and as much as I love visions of the future in literature and film, I had to visit and see it for myself...Had on my Spider Jerusalem glasses, as Puck had his on too and there would've been a fight about who would be the other's "filthy assistant"...
I flew up as far as the highest tower and twirled my way down as I quickly descended, the lights and textures almost dizzying as they swirled around me...
It will be interesting to see what community develops and evolves here...Make sure to turn on the music. Breaking glass can sound soothing...

Angel RP: Angel in a Forsaken Place

(in character)

Me and my big mouth...

I fingered my sword as I arrived and its shining blade upon me brought me comfort as I walked past the burned-out buildings lining the dim streets. I squinted, surprised to see sunlight filtering through the pollution-choked clouds. It is so incongruous as this place, Toxian City, is one that is more suited to dark. "Smite them all and let's just be done with it already," I had said flippantly. For that statement, I was ordered by Gen. Michael to help assist in bringing the Light back. A "lesson in humility." Damn. He's one to talk. What in the universes have I been conscripted to do? Where do I even start? I do not even have time to resent my mission, although you may be certain that I do. After seeing so much strife for so long the word "jaded" has become an understatement.

For millennia I have served as a warrior and fought in the wars of both higher beings and those of man. What do I care for humans and their kind--the felines, the vampires, the lycans? They have all moved away from their natural state and their connection with us and their gift. They rejected us, so why should I care? Simply: The Lord of Darkness' armies and realm should not increase and as we have our warriors, so they have theirs. They are my concern, and they recruit well.

I found my way to the church. It is but a building--a testament to man's corruption of the Light, but it seemed the perfect refuge. A kitsune demon stepped through the door. I was wary at first given my past interactions with his kin, but upon hearing my sigh, he asked what was wrong. "This should be a place of hope, " I said, wincing from having been burned by the tainted holy water. "Perhaps it still is, I do not know yet. Perhaps it may be once more." His green eyes brightened as he smiled softly and said, "Even a single candle can create light." From the mouth of a demon. There may be hope yet...I sat on the grimy front steps and thought about the next time we met, it could be at the points of our swords. It is so much easier not to be good...but someone has to believe. Even if that "someone" is me.

Biking Through the Wastelands

I had always heard about the post-apoc collection of sims that make up the Wastelands. I have met a few of its residents in Suffugium before. Highly creative, really nice, and pretty damn funny, so last night I thought I'd check the place out for myself...I decided I was going to bike through all 8 of the sims and brought out my trusty hobo bike. I started out in the Wastelands, went North through Burnt Oak and the North Yard and down into the Junkyard...
I want to believe that this is someone's pet just saying "Hi"...
I kept on down to Fort Stygian and around to Ashvasta and Cormac, where I found the high mesa...
I stopped to look at the Great Fissure and said hello to an alien named Yonathan. After all, just because you're a scavenger alien or a "different" being doesn't mean you shouldn't be talked to, you know? If you're a fan of creative builds and sims with a vision of theme like I am, the Wastelands is worth the trip.
