A Bit of Catching Up...

I've been on a RL art exhibit deadline, so here's a bit of a round-up of things I've been up to, such as a fitting for the Baron Wulfenbach...whose lapels just refuse...to...cooperate...
Kheph took me on a ride at the "Space Mountain" attraction he scripted...And Lunar? Well...after wearing Edward Pearse's holiday shoes and cap at the Steelhead ice skating party, his resemblance to his Keebler cousins was just stronger than ever...

What Once Was...

I looked out the now barren Garden of NPIRL Delights, its grounds a dizzying swirl of colors and textures...And turned to look up at our beautiful Tower and sighed, knowing that it had to come down...
And come down it did! Kheph and I hit the "trigger" and pieces went flying everywhere! Crap Mariner filmed it and Madcow--as carrotdino--came to watch...
We even convinced Madcow to demolish his as well, and creature pieces fell from the sky...
...And onto the psychedelia of the grounds below. What once was is now no more, but it was a great run while it lasted.

And It All Came Tumbling Down...

Many thanks to Crap Mariner for filming this fun machinima of our Tower at the Rezzable Garden being demolished. It was quite the takedown!! It was fun while it lasted, and thanks to Madcow for coming to see it and then destroying his own!

Well, It's a Wrap...

The Rezzable Garden of NPIRL Delights officially closed tonight. I stood on my skyplat reading and responding as the group and Gardeners shared their thoughts and spread the love. I know that for me--and I think I can speak for Kheph too on this one--my sending Bettina the proposal for the Tower was one of the best things I've done while in SL.

It has been an incredible, special experience for me to be a part of this and to have helped to create and be a part of something that so many have enjoyed. I've made new friends such as Madcow, Eshi, and Jieux and have been so inspired by the works of my fellow Gardeners. Something's shifted in me. I've always been very creative inworld, but I want to expand...do different things. Do more! Truly explore the creativity that I originally came into Second Life to do. The inspiration that I feel inworld goes into my RL art and writing as well...it has been such a positive thing that way.

I don't know what my hands will bring forth next. You'll just have to watch this steampunk brass kitty to see...

What the Hey?

Kheph and I were checking out the build and found a piece of Crap Mariner's build from across the way after his demolition the night before! All I could do was laugh, as we were finding other pieces all night. We've decided to bring our own Tower down when the Garden closes...A view of DB BAiley's "Purgatorio"...
And the cuteness that is Yoa Ogee's "Happy Humans!"...

Of Building and Inspiration

I sat perched on my favorite place to sit on the Tower, the hand, and just thought about the past few days. When I submitted the proposal to Bettina for the Rezzable Garden, I took a chance. Who knew me as a builder? Who knew Kheph as one beyond his inventions? But all that I knew is that I thought the two of us could create something beautiful together. My general artistic concept was "aethereal steampunk" as I saw a delicate tower of oxidized copper in the sky...
When I saw some of the names already selected, I was like "Oh hell" and a bit of fear--alright sheer panic-- actually set in, which was unfounded as my fellow Gardeners have been nothing but supportive and wonderful. For two weeks and countless hours we were busy building, usually Kheph during the day and me during the wee hours of the night. Tweaking textures. Replacing pieces. Trusting each other with mod rights and each other's work. Give and take. Pushing each other creatively as we have for months now in other things we do together. And when we stepped back finally, we couldn't believe ourselves. To have the Tower be as well-received as it is has been an absolute surprise and both Kheph and I are amazed and thrilled at how much folks love it.
Meet Frank. Being able to create is highly valued in our world and that's an ability I want to be able to share with others, so I gave Phin a building lesson and told him "Build me a cat. See it. See the shapes of it. Don't worry about what others will think of it. GO." It was the first time he has ever done anything like this and that night, it's like something clicked inside of him. This experience with the Garden is wonderful...and being able to pass on that inspiration is part of what being inworld is all about...

Rezzable Garden of NPIRL Delights Open!

I sat perched upon our creation waiting for the time for the Rezzable Garden of NPIRL Delights to finally open to the public! Based upon Hieronymous Bosch's "Garden of Earthly Delights" (one of my absolute fave pieces), the Festival features some of SL's best creators and scripters. Around 12:05 SLT I was amazed as it was as if the sims fairly exploded with green dots! It was so incredibly exciting to see!Madcow Cosmos and I were both excited and had fun watching people going by. Remember Madcow, the HUD is the navigation-challenged's friend!
My build with Kheph, the "Tower of Industrial Judgement", is inspired by the "Earth" central panel of the triptych. My concept was that of a "aethereal steampunk tower" and we thought of man, technology, and the Tower of Babel. Kheph and I ran with that, making it a truly collaborative build, both of us adding onto it and surprising each other. Madcow asked me my fave part of it. I love building the fishie, the scales, and oddly enough...these walkways and platforms that I think give it a certain delicacy...
Fellow artist and Gardener Eshi Otawara came over and ended up trying out the swinging wrecking ball. Her dress has this unbelievably beautiful texture...
But I am already finding that a crowd favorite is high in the sky...my flying fishie, based upon the painting and my late fighting fish Magic. Please come and visit the Festival! You will not be disappointed!

Have Inventor Friends? Will Be Guinea Pig!

Newbe and Kheph are both steampunk inventors and scripters. For as long as I've known both, I've been their willing guinea pig. Today we tested Newbe's new balloon skydiving lift that he'll be releasing early next week so look out for it. You can pick both the height to drop from as well as the ascent speed. It's a lot of fun...Freefalling through the air. At least THIS time I had my parachute on!
And here we are gliding towards the ground at SteamSkyCity. Yeah!

Barrel of Laughs

Is Kheph in a barrel in Newbe's new Babbage Palisades Writer ClockWorks shop? Yes.

Are me and Newbe off to the side snickering? YES!

Meadow of Violence

My meadow was a place of happiness and peace--until I klonked Kheph over the head with a skillet...Uh oh?Later, I found myself contemplating what I had done at Sea Turtle Island, which is also where the meeting house of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) is located. I think I will ask my friend Otenth to tell me more another time when I talk about religion and religious places in a future post. Tonight, I just hiked around the beautiful sim...And found this interesting exhibit of medieval and historic musical instruments...

Hanging Out at the Sandbox

Kheph is a talented builder and scripter so I like hanging out with him at his favorite sandbox sometimes...I sort inventory or work on things myself and it's always fun watching others build. I was being a good girl. See? Even got my wings and halo on...
Earlier there had been a Caledon rose hunt and I was really unsuccessful in finding one, so he made me a pretty little one that opens and closes. Thank you!

SL Art: Clanger's Inventions

After a visit to Solarya, Kheph took me to Clanger's Inventions. When we landed on the multicolored psychedelic surface, all I could do was go "Ooooo"...The centerpiece is a towering creation soaring into the sky, its textures swirling. I could not help but to do a bit of swirling of my own within it...
I love works like these. SL poses no limits on what we can create...
...and being in a virtual world, why not create the otherworldly?
