WTF LL of the Day: Um...

It's been a LONG time since I have had a "WTF LL of the Day" post, but I think this counts as one!

Easy fix though (thanks to Dia). I had been a tiny and my body kept folding. The fix: Stop animating my avatar and ta-da! Back to my normal self!

I can assure you that I am unable to walk on the walls, and my tiny bunny AV isn't wearing suction cups on its feet.

Get Out the Eye Bleach...

I respect the right of other SL citizens to be able to be and look like anything and I've shown some skin before at a themed party...but damn. I'd love to say that these are all dudes pretending to be women, but I've met way too many women who like the "ho-chic" look in here. A guilty pleasure of mine is the SL site "What the Fug?" Looking through my pics, I realized I actually had enough to do a homage post of sorts. Can't say I didn't warn you...

While out shopping a while ago, Lunar tried to shield my eyes from the one on the right, I couldn't help but notice the one on the left too..
I'm all for curves and think voluptuous women are gorgeous, but this old pic I took is like "Attack of the Blinging Oiled Badonkadonks"...Saw these two last night. The one on the left speaks for herself, but what you can't really see from the woman on the right (who I actually thought was pretty) is that you can see her prim nipples under her prim top because it doesn't fit close enough. For the love of God, WHY? OK, we get it. You are neko BDSM twins and like to spank or be spanked. We get it...Now I'm going to need some eye bleach...And yes, Tensai clicked on this pricelessness below...

Lunar's being human seems to come with a elven to human age regression it seems. What human age could that be? WTF LL of the Day: Openspace Sim Smackdown

Oh dear frakking God LiLa, what have you gone and done this time?!

I attended an emergency town meeting in Caledon Oxbridge tonight, led by the Guvnah, Desmond Shang. He was not the only themed community leader in attendance however, as Mr NeoBokrug Elytis of the Wastelands was present, as well as many other concerned community leaders such as Miss Serra Anansi of Winterfell and other major estate managers. The issue? Linden Labs has changed their pricing for openspace void sim regions, effective January 1, citing "overload issues." Why is this a problem? We are talking about a 66% increase in the monthly fee for owners. You can read Tateru Nino's article about it HERE.

"Well, I'm not an openspace or void sim owner, why the hell should I care?" Well, you should. For example, Caledon consists of 20 void sims and 23 full sims. The Guvnah would not be able to continue to charge his current price but for so much longer before having to soon pass the costs onto the void sim owners. If the owners are unable or unwilling to pay more, and someone else does not assume it, then the cost will pass back to the Guvnah. The very nature of a community that you enjoy could be changed dramatically. It is not just big communities like Caledon that could be affected...we are talking about Antiquity, Winterfell, Wyre, Brythony, Lovelace, New Babbage, the Wastelands and many more. For smaller openspace sim owners, this increase could be even more devastating. Across the grid, there could be losses and perhaps a backfiring blow (yet again) to SL's economy across the grid.

Reacting in a knee-jerk "SCREW SL!" way isn't the answer right now. Be angry, fine and yes, but as we have seen in the past, our being ticked off at something they've done (gambling ban, SL5B, trademarks, land devaluation) hasn't made a damn difference, now has it? Things I think about it...call it "Elle's LiLa Conspiracy Theories" if you wish, whatever...

1. The "See, We Listen!": They usually create a $hit$torm and in the face of our going nuts in return, sometimes backpedal to what they wanted in the first place
2. The "Give Us What We Want": Tired of private estate owners charging out the wazoo for land? Here's newly released land and openspace sims just for you! Oh, don't worry about the fact that your land's not worth anything near what you paid for it now! Look! We have land!
3. The "Victims of Their Own Success": We released openspace sims just for you, but look at how much you all really really liked them! So much so that you're not buying regular sims or the spanking brand new land we created! And oh my...that's not quite what we intended them to be used for!
4. The "It's Not Me, It's You": Interesting how when things seem to go wrong, suddenly its the servers and the users that are overloading the system and are the problem. Like Oscar Rogers, the "financial analyst" on SNL, don't blame us...FIX IT!

The way I figure it, in the end we hate these kind of policies, but we really do like being here despite it all. Oh, my Las Olas home is a rental on an openspace sim. Am I screwed? Yup, probably, maybe. It's been quiet and wonderful and a perfect place for me in here. I love every moment I spend there inworld. I had no idea about the overload issue. I guess I'd better enjoy it while I can as either my tier will be increased (which I went through at my old land as a direct result of theory #3) or my estate manager's going to be like "No way!" I really hope LiLa comes up with a solution that takes its citizens into account. In the meantime, I'll wait and see. A lot can happen in two months.

WTF LL of the Day: NOOOOO!!!!!

Can you hear me screaming all the way from Vista del Mar? If you have ever lost important inventory, this one's for you...

Since I was moving, I put all of my furniture, collections, art, and one of a kind pieces I've amassed in my year-plus in here in a folder called "Vista Moving Items" to make it easy to find and place everything when I was done. I keep all of my truly special things here at Vista. Since the house was completed, I was ready to decorate, but LiLa had a little surprise for me...NO FOLDER. Oh dear God, it's like having your virtual home burn down! I contacted LiLa, using my Premium membership to Live Chat. They did see it was there , but with all of the asset server issues, I can't access it or see it myself. They said it "should" come back when the issues clear up. Oh no...that could be never at this rate! Nuuuuuuuu...

WTF LiLa of the Day: Where Oh Where...

...has my little grid gone?We should all be a bit more alert today given that Sleep Less has been down since around 1 am EST. This is one of the worst grid shutdowns I've seen since I've been inworld. I don't know...more residents + unstable grid/servers + high weekend traffic = grid goes kaboom?

Look, I love being inworld. Obviously I do and that's why I, and so many others, put up with this mess. But really, stop trying to wow us with new shiny features and fix the basic things that folks can't handle, like lag. You want big businesses to utilize it, but who would entrust their inworld/real money into something that can implode on them like this? If that big business had an event or project that needed to take place right now, do you think they'd be thrilled that their investment in this world is a bit belly up temporarily during what is supposed to be a peak usage time?

If we, the "little" folks, feel this kind of "oh hell"...how do you think a corporation or major nonprofit would react? In the meanwhile, I'll be spending the time with friends and fam today. Go on, go outside if you can! The fresh air doesn't hurt (too badly). Maybe the Grid'll be up later.

Yeah, I get "why" they feel they should and while it shouldn't/hopefully won't/had better not affect us bloggers, the new brand policy has a lot of folks upset. I am looking at the very title and domain name of my blog, for instance. We've been promoting you all along SanFranMMORPGLab, so going RIAA-style on us, hmm...

I don't even have a picture for this one. I was crashy. TPs wouldn't work at all. I spun in circles in one place for quite awhile (although I could send and receive IMs go fig), and when I logged back in, let's just say that I didn't quite look like myself. The main SL site said the grid had been taken offline for maintenance.

What is going ON in SL right now? These are some of my shots during crashes...

The crashing, the non-existent TPs, the limbo, the ruthing, the getting stuck in place. I even watched my bunny swirl and levitate. This is ridiculous. Forget Voice and fancy atmosphere effects. Get basic things straight like your servers and lag!
