Blog Action Day for the Environment

Today is Blog Action Day, and bloggers all over the world are posting today about a very important issue: the Environment. Even though I talk about my life here in SL, where the environment is in no danger whatsoever (lag, grid attacks and instability aside), I thought I would participate.

When I built my home here back in April, I had been reading about the green roof movement--when roofs are covered with a form of vegetation, some incorporating layers and drainage systems. Beyond its aethestic value, green roofs can help lower heating and cooling costs, reduce runoff, and even help with sound pollution by acting as insulation. I have seen photos of green roof golf courses and full gardens. I thought that even though I was in Second Life, I'd create one for my own home at Vista del Mar. I have seen people fly over it and stop because of its grasses. I might develop it a little more in the future. I may be in SL, but why not be aware of the environment just the same?

Great job, Miss Laval! I began a rooftop garden for the very same reason--although, it's been redone for Autumn.

I may revisit the idea of replacing the concrete floor and actually installing a lawn up there in the Spring.

If you'd like to assist me in the effort, Id be most grateful. Last time, you remember, I was a little frustrated when I accidentally deleted the two back rooms of my gallery!

It needs...a shrubbery!

I think so too! I've been contemplating a rooftop garden with shrubbery and grasses, but I don't know if I want more attention drawn to Vista than it already gets...
