Death Rays, Tiny Nuns and a New Project

My evening started off in Winterfell Absinthe at the Jager Poetry Slam. Death rays, fire, explosions and nuns with guns are my idea of a good time. Oh yeah...and poetry too!
My evening ended with Lunar showing me the location of an upcoming project I'll be helping him out on. For those of you who don't know, he's a helluva builder, but I'm the one with the helluva knack for textures and texture tweaking...which leads to lots of notecards from him that make me say "You want what?!" (for instance, a sculptie conch shell. Yes, I did create it.) Ooo elf...be glad you're my friend! No really, I truly enjoy working on textures though and maybe when things slow down again a bit for me, I might even make a texture pack. I love the creative aspects of this world...

Moon Elf vs Dark Elf Sparring

As most of you know, I love to fight...particularly with swords. When I recently upgraded my graphics card, #2 on my list of SL things to do was "Fight Lunar". Okay, so it said "Whup Lunar"...that's besides the point. My Vista plat is perfect for sparring and we both really needed practice. I put on my new dark elf armor that I started making and we went at it using DCS2. I found it very convenient that he had to leave when I was beating him. Until next time...

Tiny Olympics End & Squirrel-on-Squirrel Violence

I had a wonderful time participating in the Raglan Tiny Olympics and a month later, it has come to an end with my tem, Green, taking the overall bronze. I had a great time doing this . It just reaffirmed how great the tiny community is to me! Elle's Guide to SL Sims...of the Fuuuuture!

I recently had a discussion about the futuristic sims of SL and here are some of my faves...

Suffugium
This cyberpunk sim is laid-back and filled with interesting, talented regulars. A fantastic build unto itself, explore its buildings, get lost in the sewers or chill at the basketball court and listen to music. Look out for those probes!Extropia Core
Most futuristic sims I came across were dystopic or post-apoc in feel. Extropia was like a retro breath of fresh air in that space age optimism kind of way. Home to Sophrosyne's Salon--where the audience is as interesting as the topics discussed there on Saturdays--Extropia is a bright shiny Tomorrowland vision of the future and well worth a visit...
The Wastelands
This collection of post-Apocalyptic sims is renowned for not only the ingenuity of its citizens and builds, but their true individualism and talent. Not to mention, where else can scavenging turn into survival of the fittest?
Future City
Like a Blade Runner vision, Future City's multilayered, sky-grazing, incredible builds will have you coming back to see it again and again...Please open officially soon! PLEASE.
Insilico
The future is now and evolving at this new high-in-the-sky cyberpunk build. Keep an eye on it as its community grows...
Midian City
Gritty dark urban RP and one of the best builds on the grid to me...
City of Lost Angel's
One of the now biggest (with new sims recently added), oldest and "baddest" of the dark urban future RP sims where demons, angels, lycans, vampires, humans and everyone else roam and use the CCS combat system. When the RP's good, the RP is good there. And if you're squeamish or think you should have lots of limits or if you don't think something bad could happen to you here, why the hell are you there?
Toxian City
Like CoLA, a dark urban future sim, but personally I found the RP a bit easier to get into as a newcomer. Wear an observer tag or go ahead and put on the DCS combat system and jump right in. Maybe you'll even get to join the rest of the citizens in trying to take down one of Toxia's infamous toxic waste monsters...
Space Colony Necronom VI
This futuristic sim is set on a space station filled with slaves, cyborgs, crew members, aliens, traders and pirates. Very much a mature sim and RP experience, but it also has a very interesting HUD called NeMit, which allows you to accomplish missions without necessarily being a part of the overall RP.

In the Gorean World w/Tele

As you all know, my good friend Tele enjoys RPing in Gor. The "camaraderie and sparring" he says. You also know what I think about Gorean culture, so no need to rehash it here. So when Tele offered to give me a tour of Torvic Pass, I thought "Screw it. Why not?" After a boat ride in, we arrived at the forbidding gate and Tele shouted up for it to be opened...One thing I do know though, is that you will find great creators and like Torvaldsland, I thought the village was really pretty...
The Pass needed to be reset so we were at the Inlet for a moment. While there, everyone was very hospitable to me. It was actually a beautiful place. One person's RP may not be another's choice, but that's what makes SL special--being able to have that choice in the first place.

I staggered into what could only passably be called Toxian's hospital and laid down upon one of its beds, not caring for the moment about anything more than how I had gotten there. I stared up at the stained ceiling tiles as my wounds healed and could only think one thought over and over again: "How had it come to this and why am I doing this?"

I made a mistake. A rather grievous one if it was enough to land me in here. I crossed a much higher level Shadow. One who I believe thinks he taught me a lesson by shooting me although I did not (and was unable to) draw my weapon. I should have communicated that better. I should have done a lot of things better. I will not forget this night. I would have rather ended up in a pool of blood having drawn my sword and fighting badly that not to have done so at all...

So once again, "How had it come to this and why am I doing this?"

I roamed the streets of the City of Lost Angel's, like Toxian its streets bleak and dark. I only know of one place to start in such places and made my way to the nearby church. As I stood there so uncertain, two others arrived--a woman and a man. The man, after greeting me, said "Seraphim, are you crazy?" and drew his sword. My eyes widened I was so taken aback.

"Crazy?" I retorted with a scowl. "How so?"

"Angels and seraphim are hard to play."

Before I could get my bearings, I was engaged in a full swordfight in the street, the sounds of our blades slashing and clanging ringing in the night. I was not moving well, my feet and body as if moving through sludge. What has happened to me upon my arrival on this plane? I was defeated before I knew it, slumped against a wall.

"I am not mad...Angels are hard to play," he said to me again as he healed me.

I looked at him defiantly as I sheathed my dual blades and said, "I understand that and that is why I am willing to take on that challenge..."

"Good girl," he said, disappearing into the night...

Chouchou and Blades

I decided that I felt like being in "Ghost Elle" form today and taking a tip from Bettina Tizzy's "Not Possible in RL" blog, I went to a pretty little location today. Chouchou is a Japanese band that only exists in SL, and they have a twinkling room that just charmed me...I sat in the swing at the tree for quite a while, listening to their music as I swayed back and forth...
I wanted the "Little Tiara Box" to play their songs on my land parcel at Vista and ended up at the Gyobboku[sp] store in the Sapporo sim. I love that you can sample songs and then go to a link to buy and download them...
And yet, despite that mellowness, somehow I later felt like wielding dual blades from Bitter Thorns. Hmm...I must find a sim to rock this look while doing so. I haven't fought in quite a while...

Me & My New Toys

Going through my inventory, I realized that while I had a crapload of retro weapons, I was sorely missing some great modern ones. Well, I changed that thanks to my fave Girl and Gun Zoe and was testing them out on Dia's skybox roof. All I can say is "Black Ops, I love you...I truly truly do." *kisses her Kimber Custom IIs*I'm a bad mutha--

Archery and Alchera

I had wrapped up all of the fashion shows that my pieces were in this weekend and after a bit of archery, sat on the grass in my Mayfair backyard with Puck...My friend Stargazer invited me to join him in the sim of Alchera, a medieval fantasy RP sim for furries with a Far Eastern feel to it. He is a bard, and played his lute for me...
He then took me on a tour of the lovely sim...
Which included this kitsune shrine. I told him that I would imagine that this would be one of his favorite places there...
Afterwards I was in a better mood and twirled around in my apartment in Regency...

SL Bloggers Party: Guns 'n' Car Chases!

Headed over to the Topgol sim to hang out with my fellow SL Bloggers for our monthly themed party. Hosted by Mygdala March, this one's theme was "Guns & Car Chases". I threw on my best tight blackness and rushed over. "Hurry!! Come on the roof!" Zoe said, and a tp was quickly sent down to me. Good thing, as everyone was strapped and anyone down below was fair game! It's always nice to see a bunch of us in one place like this...
I wish the Victorian/Steampunk bloggers would come out more. As much as they like to party? And c'mon...Hotspur...guns are your thing!
Afterwards, I thought I'd sit quietly with Marcell in his store, Kakita's, courtyard...

Fightin' Elle

Today was the Caledon Loch Avie Academy of Arms' tournament...I did fairly well today, especially in the 2nd melee...

I really do enjoy the fighting, and even the practice--especially when I have a great opponent. I don't mind eating dirt if I've had a good fight.

Another Venture Into Gor

I'm sorry I don't have pics this time, as it's very rare that I go into Gorean sims, but I went with Tele to look at weapons for Caledon's fighting academy. We switched locations from the Cay (we were worried about taking out ferry passengers while trying to test our new longbows), and ran into a problem with them (that had an embarassingly simple solution). I had a chance to meet their creator, Tharkis Olafson--who was very nice--and I will tell you that he makes fantastic weapons!

I tested out my new longbow later and this one is quite different from the others that I own. Your arrows are not unlimited--forcing you to reload, and your distance is determined by how long you draw it back. To me, you can feel its resistance as you do. It also has really great sound effects to accompany it. Definitely for a skilled archer. While a bit slower and not made to run with due to its size, I think it is a more accurate and realistic weapon. Really nice actually.

The fighting arena and practice area at Loch Avie are even closer to being ready. VERY exciting!
