Happy Birthday to Me!!

So how does one celebrate her birthday in SL? After a fantastic RL birthday I thought I'd check in. I had so many wonderful presents from my friends! Thank you everyone! Mr. Otsuzum, thank you for the lovely dance later on...how will I ever forget it?!

I grooved at a club with my sister Baube. As you can see from the bottle in her hand it was a wild time.

Where's my shoe????

Pre-Birthday--As a Tiny Ferret

I was up late tonight as the time crept towards my RL birthday. I thought I would visit Offie Mulberry at her store in Caledon Kittiwick Town--Forever Tiny--to show her my new tiny champagne ferret avatar by Wynx. It just always seemed like she was having so much fun as a tiny that I had to see what the fuss was all about. One thing's for certain, at tiny height, your perspective is a lot different. We were also celebrating Offie's recent birthday on the 29th too. I brought out the huge cake for us. Trust me, that thing is big even as regular height!

I am too cute.

The Laval Sisters

My real-life younger sister, Baube Laval, decided to join SL today. She is having a ball. 20 minutes in and she had already taken a hot air balloon ride and then was dancing at a club in the Le Cemetiere sim with vampires, LOL! I think it's pretty exciting that she's here. I'm certain we'll be getting each other into all sorts of crazy things! Like go-karting. Let's just say that I ended up in deep water.

Dominic came by to visit and surprised us both by appearing in full dragon form! I know it was a treat for him to be able to spread out like that. Of course, when he blew out his flames, Baube knocked me right in its path.

Siblings. I swear!

E.Laval Haberdasher: "Alex" Waistcoat

Greetings!

Here is my friend, the handsome Alexzander, in my dark leaf-patterned waistcoat and shirt with loose tie and arm garters. Still a little tweaking to do on it, but I think that he looks rather smart!

Looking the Part

Alex visited me at Vista del Mar today. I have on my new Silent Sparrow dress and he is wearing one of my designs. I should say that we look rather elegant!

Butterfly Eladrienne

I saw this avatar and it was so fantastic and different that I had to try it!

Nat'l Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration/NOAA

The U.S. Nat'l Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration/NOAA has a cool sim in Meteroa that has interactive exhibits about the environment. I enjoyed holding onto a weather balloon for dear life, riding the plane into the eye of the hurricane and cruising underwater in the small submarine. The most disturbing one was that of the tsunami recreation. By clicking on the sign, it takes you through the stages of a tsunami--the water withdrawing, the wave itself, and its aftermath. You should also check out how the glaciers have receded. It is well-done, informative and worth checking out.

Black Wolf Eladrienne

My best friend Thom seems to really enjoy being a white wolf with wings, so I thought I'd be the opposite for the heck of it...

Caledon Wanderings: Kittiwick Town Taking Shape

Greetings! Already Kittiwick Town looks different on Burns as its shop owners have now changed the look of their establishments!

Second Life Ballet: Olnannen

Kitty and I attended the Second Life Ballet's original production of Olnannen. It was, in a word: fantastic!

I thought I'd drop by Architecture Island to see the Wikitecture project. A collaborative effort, it opened today.

Caledon Wanderings: Kittiwickshire Now Open!

Greetings! The new sim of Caledon Kittiwickshire is now open with its trees and main street filled with lovely shops. It is so in keeping with the Caledonian aesthetic and sense of community-building. I received a notice from Mr. Webb about some mischief he was making in the main pond that he wanted me to see: Tentacles! Yes, tentacles. Ones that move with you. He told me, "Go on and run around in them. You know you want to!" Yes. He knows me well. Ha-ha! I said that all I was missing were the bunnies and I'd be in bliss. I also said that we had not been in town long and were already creating trouble. We couldn't stop laughing. I then received a message from Mr. Otsuzum remarking upon my dress--which meant that he was there as well! As it turns out, he is a new Kittiwick resident and his lot was right behind us. I introduced them both and it was great to me for both of my friends to meet. We all ran around in the pond for a bit. Much fun.

Mr. Otsuzum will be opening a photography gallery and has a lovely plot on Burns at the telehub. While chatting with his neighbor, tiny clothing and goods creator Miss Mulberry, we had a chance to meet many residents, visitors, and citizens of Caledon, including Horg Neurocam, creator of the mines, and Grand Duchess Debevec. We also met the Vicereine of Caledon and Duchess of Lionsgate Kamilah Hauptmann (in the red), and her associate Tasha Loveless who were acting as an official welcoming committee. You could feel the excitement in the air! I can not wait to come back and visit again!

ROMA: Fortuna Festival

Ave SL Citizens!

There was much to do in ROMA tonight at the Fortuna Festival held at Fort Legio Augusta! Shooting Cupid (ahh, revenge!), dunking Censors and Vestals, throwing knives...I missed the Amazons of Legion XIII's combat demonstration and the chariot races earlier. There is Prefect Torin Golding standing at the base of the Column of Doom. I sadly did not make it to the top. I wish I had tried the catapult though...I heard some say that they went all the way to the Subura suburbs!

MadCow Cosmos

I've been visiting artist MadCow Cosmos' amazing pieces at the 14 sculptures/14 days exhibit of his at the Oyster Bay Aquarium and Gallery. If you have never seen one, you just don't understand the SIZE of these pieces and how intricate they are. These were fantastic!!

Art Exhibit: "Red"

I thought that I would attend the unveiling of the new "Red" exhibit at the Enigmatic Artworks Gallery. I love Gracie Kendal's piece that I own so much that I bought a new one--"Red Light District." That's it in the middle. In my home, I hung it in a window where it mimics the hill behind it at sunset.

Girls Night Out

Kitty and I decided to go out in the world and vent about guys and dress up in formal gowns for no good reason other than we just felt like it! Sometimes you just want to wear a stunning dress just to wear one.

We ended up buying clothes at Tres Beau and donning crowns. I think we look pretty damn pretty. I dare you to say otherwise! So decrees Queen Elle and Princess Kitty!

For you fashionistas: My dress is by me! Kitty's is Simone

Windsurfing @ Home

I love my new SSi/Heather Goodliffe windsurfer. Not only is it gorgeous, but it's very fast. I threw on a SLNN shirt with my bikini and hopped on. After going around my old island home on another sim, I came back and thought I'd it for a spin around the island, out of the channel and around and around Thom's island home (bottom photo). Speaking of Thom, I haven't seen him in quite a while, although I met his twin Eomer for the first time the other day. They might look exactly alike, but they are definitely different in personality. Like Thom, he is a sweetheart...but reserved where Thom is very very outgoing. They are such proper British gentlemen wolves!

Conexion Colombia Peace March

My friend Jomanasa, is proudly from Cali, Colombia. He invited me to join him and the Colombian Connection group for a march for peace in protest to the kidnappings and violence in his country. After all of the late nights I've spent helping him at the gallery, how could I say no? Not to mention that I'm all for using SL as a means to promote social causes and awareness. The group has a section in the France MIDI Pyrenees sim with a large Colonial-style architecture club, a theater, and the arts & culture gallery that J. worked so hard on. The club has a fountain in its center with a memorial to victims of violence. You can leave a rose there if you visit.

There was a very good turnout and everyone was wearing their T-shirts and holding the Colombian flag and cries of "Paz" and "Viva Colombia" rang out as everyone marched around the sim. I've done RL marches and it did have the same kind of feel! You can see a great video by Kamian Ur (he has the big flag in the top photo) of it here. After the march, everyone went to the club, and then to the beachside disco for a celebration with everyone dancing. You know I did! I danced with J., and almost as soon as he stepped away for a second, the organizer and man behind it all, Dallas492, took his place. You know how much I love salsa dancing and I had a really good time! He told me that he wishes to create a town to share Colombia's culture with the rest of SL.

When I finally made it home, I threw on my bikini, hung out with my neighbor Kitty, and took a leisurely paddle around the island in my new canoe.

Aotearoa/New Zealand Pavilion

Using "Search" can pull up some interesting places...Today I found the Aotearoa/New Zealand Interactive Pavilion in Tol Lothlorien with info all about New Zealand and its culture.

Look at that cute kiwi!!!!! If you click on him, you can read the legend of how the kiwi lost its wings.

Relaxing with Mr. Otsuzum

One of my favorite Victorian gentlemen friends, Mr. HyBosch Otsuzum, came to call upon me at Vista del Mar tonight. We are both hoping to acquire land in one of the new Caledon sims. He looks rather comfortable doesn't he? For once, he was the one dressed casually as he is usually rather dapper in a fancy waistcoat and frock coat. I had been working on a new dress and it was just too much trouble to change. I do believe that I will change that shoulder piece I am wearing as it is not to my liking. Mr. Otsuzum has given me a fashion creation challenge: jodhpurs, riding boots, and a small-patterned houndstooth suit. Not to be worn all at once, mind you. I have quite a collection of fine English wool fabric at my disposal that I acquired from a RL bespoke tailor. Beautiful patterns and textures. I can not wait to use them. We shall see Mr. Otsuzum...We shall see.

And yes, the grass on my sim disappeared--AGAIN.

Madcow and ROMA

Ave SL Citizens!

I headed over to the Oyster Bay Aquarium & Sculpture Garden to see Madcow Cosmos' gigantic steampunk dragon sculpture for his exhibit "14 Sculptures in 14 Days." The dragon was HUGE, reaching into the clouds.

Afterwards, I put on my toga and golden sandals and popped over to ROMA to explore the sim some more. This time I went to the Capitoline and wandered up to the temple of Jupiter, which is rather impressive. I then ended up reading a scroll in the Library of Alexandria. I know, I know...no chariot racing this time. If only I could find the way to the sewer tour...

Caledon Wanderings: Bunny Ears & Flower Fields

Greetings! I decided to stop by the Webb Workshop to check on the progress of the self-sprouting cabbages. As Mr. Webb was not present, I sent him a notice about their current state and then proceeded to take a stroll down the road. I came upon a merry group of Caledonians frolicking in a flower field wearing bunny ears, some partaking of spirits as they did so. When invited to join in the festivities, how could I resist?

Then, who should I see walking towards us, but Mr. Webb himself. I could almost see him shaking his head at the sight of his "assistant" making a spectacle of herself. Then, looking to his left, I saw one of his wonderful "crouching bunnies"--wearing yellow bunny ears. Perhaps it was the inspiration for the party? Mr. Webb was not amused, lol.

Waterfall Inspiration

I am thinking of creating waterfalls on my new property, so I thought I'd go to the SL Botanical Gardens to be inspired by theirs.
